Stow licence terms
Last updated: 24 October 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and T1G OÜ, the company that makes Stow ("we", "us"). They cover the Stow app for Mac. By installing or using the app, you agree to them.
1. Your licence
- During the 14-day free trial, which starts the first time you open the app, you may use every feature of it.
- When you buy a licence, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on up to 3 Macs at a time, with every 1.x update.
- You may use Stow for your personal mail and your own business's mail. Check that you are allowed to copy any mail that belongs to someone else, such as an employer.
- You may not sell, rent or share your licence key, or remove or work around the licence check.
2. The open-source engine
The Stow engine inside the app is open-source software licensed under the Apache License, Version 2.0. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under that licence. These terms cover the app built on top of it.
3. Buying
Polar (polar.sh) sells Stow to you as merchant of record. Your purchase is also subject to Polar's terms. Because the 14-day free trial lets you try every feature first, purchases are not refunded; see refunds. A revoked licence returns the app to its post-trial state: you can still search, read and export your archive, but syncing pauses.
4. Your mail and your archive
- Your mail stays on your Mac. We do not receive it. The privacy policy explains what the app does and does not send.
- Stow never deletes mail from your mailbox. If you delete mail from your mailbox, after Stow tells you it is safely archived, Stow may hold the only copy. Keeping your Mac backed up and your recovery key safe is up to you.
- Without your recovery key, a lost or reset Mac's archive cannot be opened, and we cannot recover it.
5. No warranty
We work hard to make Stow reliable, but it is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we make no promises that it will be free of errors or suit every purpose. Nothing in these terms removes rights you have as a consumer that cannot be removed by agreement.
6. Liability
We accept no liability for any loss or damage arising from your use of Stow, including loss of mail or other data, except where the law does not allow liability to be excluded, such as for intentional or grossly negligent breach, or where mandatory consumer law gives you rights that cannot be removed by agreement.
7. Ending these terms
You can stop using Stow at any time. If you break these terms, we may cancel your licence key. Either way, your archive stays yours and you can export it.
8. Changes
We may update these terms for future versions. We will publish changes here with a new date.
9. Law
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Estonia. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in its courts.
